Broadband Wireless
Access Overview
33 34
WiMAX, or Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave
Access, describes the standard and implementations of
IEEE 802.16 wireless networks. WiMAX's distinctive
characteristics give it the advantage for the deployment of
last mile applications, wireless broadband access as an
alternative to wired DSL or cable, and fixed or nomadic
wireless communication deployments. Features giving
WiMAX the edge include superior distance connectivity,
building penetration, transmission speeds, Quality of
Service (QoS) and security.
Edge-Core WiMAX 802.16e CPE series includes :
ąWiMAX 802.16e CardBus Adapter (PC200)
ąWiMAX 802.16e USB Adapter (US210)
ąWiMAX 802.16e Residential Gateway (RG230)
ąWiMAX 802.16e Outdoor CPE Indoor Unit (OD200-IDU)
ąWiMAX 802.16e Outdoor CPE Outdoor Unit (OD200-
